In the vibrant heart of South Delhi, Stainless Gallery, known for its sunlit, airy space is currently hosting an exhibition that explores the essence of artistic collaboration. Titled "FORMS ////FORMATION," this showcase is a testament to the enduring power of collective creativity. “What I'm trying to depict and what I'm trying to, you knowwagi8, make people understand is the these handmade/ handcrafted works are not done in isolation,” says the show’s curator and one of its featured artists Saurabh Narang.

"The first match in the Olympics is never easy. New Zealand is not an easy team, We made some mistakes, but there were a few good things as well. It's a good wake-up call for the team," Sreejesh said.

The exhibition is an impressive collection of over 80 artworks, encompassing paintings, sculptures, traditional printmaking, photography, and ceramics. Narang has spent the last eight months facilitating this, his vision, through dialogue and exchange among the artists. The roster includes both seasoned maestros and emerging talents, each contributing unique individual and collaborative experiences. Among the luminaries featured is Ira Chaudhuri, a renowned ceramist whose intricate designs are celebrated as much as the works’ underlying narratives. Also on display were works by Anupam Sud, a distinguished painter and printmaker.

“I think it’s a positive thing to bring together artists from different walks of life. Perhaps by way of the Internet which has broken many walls. or walls between young artists and senior artists. those walls are getting done with,” says Narang.

The exhibition reminds one of the "Rupantar" curated by Dr Alka Pande last year. "Rupantar" brought together five founding members of the Multiple Encounters group, presenting works spanning from 1980 to 2024. Their journey began at the Lalit Kala Academy's Artist Studio in Garhi, where they established the Indian Printmakers Guild. Over the decades, despite diverse artistic beliefs and methods, these artists discovered harmonious avenues for collaboration.

“FORMS ////FORMATION" seems to build further on collective creativity; Each piece seems to seek to uncover the question: what unite artists, and the impact of cooperation on their creations. Sculptor Biman Das presents evocative forms that challenge spatial perceptions,ph777 casino while photographer Aditya Arya offers a visual journey through time, capturing moments that resonate with historical significance. Senior artists Ananda Moy Banerji, Dattatraya Apte, Sushanta Guha, and Kishore Chakraborty, all part of the iconic Multiple Encounters group, display works that reflect decades of artistic evolution and collaboration.

The late Rini Dhumal, whose art centred on the strength and power of women, is displayed as reverence for her indelible mark on contemporary Indian art.

Perhaps the most interesting display of passing on the baton, so to say, is the art displayed by Dr Sanjeev Kishor Goutam, Director General of the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) alongside many whom he taught and mentored over the years. This includes mid-career artists such as Alita Chandra, Prasanta Kalita, Madhur Sen, and Saurabh Narang infuse the exhibition with fresh perspectives, while young talents Annu Gupta, Priyanka Batra, and Nanki Singh introduce innovative approaches and contemporary themes.

"I always believe that art is for public shake. Your concept, thoughts and ideas with aesthetical essences will be reflected through the audiences. Your creation should have some magical power to attract the audience and the audience will automatically observe your sensible creation," says artist Padamashree Biman Bihari Das.

"FORMS ////FORMATION" offers visitors a unique opportunity to witness how artists, despite varied methodologies and philosophies, come together and explore common, human themes.
