LUCENA CITY – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has suspended sea travel for all small vessels in the Lamon Bay area in Quezon province due to rough sea conditions.

In an advisory issued on Saturday afternoon and Sunday at 5 a.m., the PCG station based in this city cited a forecast by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Administration (Pagasa) which says “strong gale force winds associated with the northeast monsoon are prevailing.”

They also seized more than P1.4 million worth of marijuana and shabu (crystal meth).

Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Saturday morning said scattered thunderstorms are expected in Palawan, Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro, Soccsksargen and Davao Occidental.

The PCG said turbulent sea condition is expected to affect the coastal towns of Mauban, Atimonan, Plaridel, Gumaca, Lopez, Quezon, Alabat, and Perez in Lamon Bay.

“In this regard, all watercraft with 250 GT and below plying the route within the abovementioned areas of southern Quezon are hereby temporarily suspended,” it added.

The suspension orders would be lifted, and sea travel for small seacrafts may be resumed when weather or sea conditions permit, as may be declared by Pagasa, the PCG said.
